Earlier this year, NASCAR penalized Ryan Preece for wrecking Ty Gibbs at Texas, but the RFK Racing driver says protesting NASCAR’s decision not to penalize anyone for two incidents at Chicagoland Speedway won’t accomplish anything. Instead, he’s marketing a T-shirt.

texted Chastain as soon as he saw the order and told him he was putting his name above his on his Modified. Preece noted that quite a few drivers had purchased the T-shirt.

During the May Texas race, Preece told his team he was tired of Gibbs’ on-track activities, and he wouldn’t give him a break. It was that radio transmission that resulted in the National Motorsports Appeals Panel upholding Preece’s $50,000 fine and loss of 25 driver points for spinning Gibbs’ into the third-turn wall and out of the race.

At Chicagoland Speedway, Shane van Gisbergen hit Austin Hill, who spun and slammed into the wall. Hill then door slammed Van Gisbergen under caution. In a separate incident, Zane Smith hit Carson Hocevar in the rear, wrecking both of them. None of the drivers expressed their anger or intentions over their radio. NASCAR didn’t penalize any of the drivers but met with them at EchoPark Speedway shortly after the Cup garage opened on Saturday.

Preece said his first thought when he saw that Van Gisbergen wasn’t penalized was to “get the shirt ready.”

Preece said he appealed his penalty because he had proof that he didn’t hit Gibbs.

“I was about six-and-a-half inches from his rear bumper, so I got penalized for something that I felt like I didn’t do,” Preece said. “But it’s over with. Sitting here, putting out a protest, that’s not going to get my points back, nor is it going to get me that $50,000 back.

“I’ll let all my fans and a lot of the people that are huge NASCAR purists… do the talking for me. I see the support. I see the memes. I think consistency as a racer is what we look for. My biggest problem right now is not understanding. There is no line right now. Where’s the line?”

Basically Unfiltered Merch  Preece admitted that race car drivers vent. He said if team co-owner Jack Roush had called him and told him not to hit the button, he wouldn’t have hit it.

“But it’s just in those moments you vent, Basically Unfiltered Hoodie  and being from the Northeast … I mean the tone of my voice last week when I was upset about my headrest was no different,” Preece said. “It was pretty identical, but I wasn’t mad at somebody else. I was mad at this headrest. The key is whether it’s racing, whether it’s at work, whether it’s in life, just don’t hit the button.
